Windrush Day Celebration

MTR Elizabeth line celebrates 76 years since Windrush

On Monday 17 June, our Ambassador team held a wreath-laying event by the Windrush Generation Plaque at Paddington station for the Ageless Teenagers community organisation to celebrate 76 years since the arrival of the HMT Empire Windrush at Tilbury Docks on Saturday 22 June 1948.

Based along the Elizabeth line, between Ilford and Romford, we have been proudly supporting Ageless Teenagers for the past seven years, as they focus on tackling loneliness and isolation.

Many members of Ageless Teenagers can trace their roots to the HMT Empire Windrush, a proportion of whom settled around Paddington, leading to the world-famous Caribbean carnival in Notting Hill.

Wishing everyone a happy Windrush Day. We are proud to support and connect communities across London and the surrounding area.
